His blanket become a superhero’s cape…A cardboard box doubles as her magic castle…kitchen chairs line up like a train…Sound like someone you know? In our Imagine That! classroom we are as captivated by your preschooler’s creative spirit as you are and we’ve developed a classroom experience designed to tap directly into the power of their imagination. Every day bring a new discovery as your child slowly opens the doors of individuality and independence. And now, together you can discover just how far a little imagination and a lot of music can go!
What you’ll experience in class:
- Pretend Play is based upon a child’s real life experiences and is a bridge to the creative thinking strategies that develop language, sensory, motor and cognitive skills. Children contruct ehtie understandings of the world and themselves through play. Our pretend play activities are strategically integrated with music, vocal development, storytelling, listening, movement and literacy.
- Singing and Music Appreciation. Singing helps with memory recall, physical development, creativity and socialization. Children are given opportunities to explore their many voices and use a singing voice as music is used to foster a sense of community and connect us all to each other.
- Literacy. Language development explodes during these years as children learn an average of 50 new words each month. Providing opportunities for children to talk and taking the time to listen to what have to say are the most important ways to allow young linguists to develop their own language skills. That’s why our activities are build around opportunities for children to communicate.
- Parental Involvement. You are still the most important teacher your child will ever have and we encourage your involvement in the learning process by inviting you to be a part of the classroom experience for a few minutes each week.and by providing weekly activities and information for you to take home and learn with your child.
At Home Materials: Each unit has a separate set of At Home materials including Literature books, Instruments, a Home Activity Guide, and Home CDs.
Summer 2011: Confetti Days
A celebration of music is interwoven with movement, art, language, drama, play, and storytelling to produce a tapestry of multi-sensory experiences for the child. Preschoolers are still learning to be self-sufficient in a group setting of peers, while many times still needing the emotional security of their parent. This is why we include the parents for a short time at the beginning and end of our class.
